Boyd Mothe Jr 2021 Ambassador Of The Year

As a Licensed funeral director, embalmer, and owner of Mothe Funeral Homes, LLCs, LL, Boyd Mothe Jr. is a leader in the deathcare industry. Since 1895, the Mothe family have respectfully served the Westbank communities of New Orleans and is now a sixth-generation family business.


In the past 40 years, since becoming licensed, Boyd Mothe Jr. has played a unique leadership role in his profession. He served as President of Louisiana Funeral Directors Association (LFDA) from 1992-1993. Boyd has delivered several invited talks, lectures, and tutorials at state conventions; served as a member of many committees; and has been featured in the Funeral Cribs web series. Additionally, he was the Laws and Legislative Chair of LFDA and has been the Chairman of many LFDA committees. Boyd remains a current member of several associations, including Selected Independent Funeral Homes, Order of the Golden Rule, and National Funeral Directors Association.


Boyd Mothe Jr. has received multiple honors and awards for his work. In 1993 and 1994, he was awarded the Morticians of the Southwest Award as the Funeral Director of the Year. He received the 2014 C.A. Charlet Funeral Director of the Year award from LFDA. Most notably, Boyd Mothe, Jr. has been recognized by LFDA as the Outstanding District Governor in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020, and 2021.


The Mothe Funeral Homes, LLCs family-owned business continues to thrive and succeed in today's ever-changing economy. The company's success can be attributed to its ability to combine an old-fashioned business philosophy with sophisticated growth strategies. Mothe’s displays an unmatched willingness to work with families on the smallest of details. Signature services include a memorial website, white dove release, the Mothe motorcycle hearse, and unique to New Orleans, a traditional jazz funeral to celebrate the life lived.


Boyd Mothe Jr. has been presented with this inaugural award due to his community involvement, charitable work, and support of the Selected Educational Trust. Working tirelessly, the Mothe family are role models for funeral service. They exemplify outstanding business acumen and demonstrate compassion through every step in the arrangement process.

Aside from his dedication to the independent funeral service profession, Boyd Mothe Jr. is an awarded Blue Marlin fisherman, an esteemed and international hunter, and a devoted family man who reveres Christmas morning breakfast traditions and judging the 4th of July chicken wing cook-off.
