Wynona Lee Carroll Holmes

Wynona Lee Carroll Holmes passed away peacefully at home with her daughter on Tuesday, November 29, 2022. Beloved wife of the late Lionel J. Homes, Jr. for 47 years. Mother of Carroll Trauth Gales, Marvin Trauth, Jr., and Brent Trauth. Mother-in-law of Bobby Gales. Grandmother of Olivia Gales, Brent Trauth, Jr. (Emily), Blaire Trauth, Paige Trauth, Maddie Trauth, and Blake Castellon. Great-grandmother of Ella and Bree Trauth. Daughter of the late Willie Lee Carroll and Clothilde Boudreaux Carroll. Sister of Judy C. Green (Louis) and the late Martha Jean Ellenburg. Preceded in death by her husband by first marriage Marvin Trauth, Sr. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Age 92 years, a lifelong resident of Algiers, LA and recent resident of Covington, LA. Wynona graduated from Behrman High School and spent her career as a realtor with Gardner Realtors for over 40 years. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who loved to entertain, and her talents were many. She was former model and was crowned Miss New Orleans in 1951 and Miss Algiers. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, gardening, being with her family, fishing and her Absolut dirty martinis!! She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by all.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Funeral Service in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at 1:30 PM. Visitation will be held from 11 AM until service time. A Celebration of Life Reception will follow at the The Red Maple Restaurant, 1036 Lafayette St., Gretna, LA.
Interment will be private for family at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Slidell, LA at a later date.
