William Gordon Petty Jr

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of William Gordon Petty, Jr., 62, of New Orleans, LA, on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. William (Bill) Petty, Jr. was born February 16, 1960 in Newport News, VA. He was the son of the late William G. Petty, Sr. and Mary Geraldine Hess Petty. Bill was a student at Old Dominion University and Virginia Tech where he studied civil engineering. He spent the majority of his life as a business owner and construction manager, where he helped all those who crossed his path within his community and beyond, even worldwide. He felt that during all his years of serving clients, he had been fortunate to be able to help many people solve their business and their personal problems. He is survived by his loving family, his wife Kathleen Broughton Petty and one son William Gordon Petty, III, both of Orange Beach, AL, and two daughters, Gambrill Petty of New Orleans, LA, and Margaret Tanner Petty of Birmingham, AL, as well as his six well-loved sisters. To describe the love Bill had for those close to him would take hours. Bill endeared all those he met with his charm, wit and wonderful sense of humor. He always strived to make those around him feel welcome and loved. The world truly never met a kinder soul. As of late, plans for the funeral service and the Mass of Resurrection have not been made, and will be announced to loved-ones as soon as possible.
