William Patrick Gould

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of William Patrick Gould, a devoted artist and cherished member of our family. Born on March 17, 1944, William left us on April 22, 2026, passing at his home after a life rich in creativity, and love.

A proud veteran, William served honorably in the United States Army before following his passion with a career as an artist. His love for art was ever-present throughout his life, he used his talents to enrich the lives of others and share beauty with the world. 

His exceptional talent extended beyond the canvas, as he also devoted time and skill to the restoration of statues in several Catholic Churches, preserving sacred art. William, a parishioner of Holy Name of Mary, was a devout Catholic who loved his faith community. William had great love for his family and friends. He especially cherished the holidays spent with his extended family, creating treasured memories. He is survived by his uncle Ronnie Sperier, his cousins Pamela McElerny, Carol Mason, Ruth Marie Sperier, Cynthia Sperier, Joseph Sperier and Stephen Sperier, and numerous other extended family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, William J. Gould and Lucille Gould, whose legacy lived on through him.

A visitation to honor William’s life will be held on May 4, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, located at 400 Verret Street, New Orleans, LA. This will be followed by a Mass from 11:00 AM. Burial will follow immediately at McDonoghville Cemetery, 520 Hancock Street, Gretna, LA.
