William Douglas Borders

William “Bill” Borders, 64, of Harvey, Louisiana, passed away on February 12, 2026.

Born on April 30, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Bill lived a life marked by connection, music, and community. He never met a stranger and had a rare gift for conversation, making friends wherever he went. Bill was always willing to lend a helping hand, especially to his neighbors, and would make time to help with anything he could. Whether it was offering advice, fixing something, or simply showing up when someone needed him, he did so without hesitation.

Bill was a proud and active member of the Krewe of Dreux, where he was honored to serve as King 50 in 2022 — a role he embraced with joy and pride. He loved being part of the Krewe and the fellowship that came with it.

Music was one of Bill’s greatest passions. He had a deep love for vinyl records, playing guitar, and collecting music memorabilia. He also believed strongly in caring for God’s creatures. His daily routine included making sure the birds outside were fed and, on more than one occasion, taking in a cat or two. His compassion for animals reflected the kindness he carried in his heart.

He was a devoted husband to his wife, Laura; a proud and loving father to his daughter, Kimberly (Calvin), and his son, Daniel; and a cherished grandfather to Charlotte. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert, Mike, and Tom. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Sr., and his mother, Amelia “Mimi.”

Those who knew Bill will remember his unique storytelling, fatherly advice, warmth, and steady presence. His memory will live on in the many lives he touched.
