William E. Adam

February 7, 1948 — December 23, 2022

William Eugene “Gene” Adam received his ultimate salvation on December 23, 2022 after a thirty year battle with heart disease. He was a lifelong resident of Lafitte, Louisiana. He started working on the water at the age 12 and spent the majority of his life as a commercial fisherman. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, California.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William L. Adam and Ruth Perrin Adam; his sister, Janelle Adam Rojas and brother in law Jules Brunet Rojas, In Laws, Kenneth A. Pizani and Bernice Pizani Bernard. He leaves behind the love of his life, Sherry Pizani Adam, they were married for fifty-six years. He was the loving father of Shantelle Adam Clement (Chris) and “Poppa” to Peyton Elizabeth Clement and Addison Reese Clement. He was like a second father to his niece, Edna Rojas Fazende (Earl), and “Nene” to Janelle Fazende Perrin (David), Dylan Michael Fazende (Tristen Ruttley), Avery Jade Perrin and Jules Madden Perrin . He was “Uncle Gene” to James Patrick Rojas (Brigette).
Gene loved God, his family, hunting, and fishing. He was happiest on his skiff, with the North wind blowing, and the salt air in his face. When he became too sick to trawl he started carving decoy ducks to occupy his time, this quickly became his new passion. He became a master carver and won many local and world class titles for the beautiful ducks he created out of a single block of wood. Through carving he met two of the best friends of his life; the late Ken Kincaid, and Dicky Autin. Together they travelled each year to Ocean City, Maryland to the Ward World Championship Wildfowl Carving Competition. Those were some of his most priceless memories and these men will always be family to us.
Gene spent the last seven months being cared for by the wonderful staff of Serenity Hospice. The family would like to extend their most heartfelt thanks to Cheri Cook Pizani who is not only family but the most loving and empathetic nurse. The family would also like to thank Cassie Palmer,PhD, LMSW for not only the emotional support to Gene but to the entire family during this most difficult time. Special thanks to Mrs. Susie Adams who is not only a lifelong family friend but the most compassionate caregiver who was able to effectively care for Gene at the very end of his sickness. God calls very special people to give care to terminal patients and we are so thankful for the love each of these people showed to Gene. Friends and family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 12PM at St. Anthony Church, 2653 Jean Lafitte Boulevard, in Lafitte, LA on Thursday, December 29, 2022. Visitation will begin at 10AM. Interment will follow immediately at Coulon Cemetery in Lafitte, LA. Please visit WWW.MOTHEFUNERALS.COM to view and sign the online guestbook.
