With heavy hearts, the family of Wheldon Jude Boyd, Jr. announces the passing from this life into the hands of our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 5, 2017. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends. Wheldon was born on March 20, 1962, in New Orleans, LA and was a lifelong resident of Belle Chasse, LA. Beloved husband of Angela “Angel” Oncale Boyd; Loving father of Rachel, Jessica, and Ethan Boyd, and the family pets Reese, Annie, and Biscuit; Son of Patsy Hoyt Boyd and the late Wheldon Jude Boyd, Sr.; Brother of Wayne P. Boyd and wife Sharon Bordelon Boyd, and Elizabeth Boyd Lagasse and husband Donald A. Lagasse; Son-in-law of Felicie Talamo Oncale and the late Ray J. Oncale; Brother-in-law of Denise O. Warrington (Tod), Madeline O. Barrios (Paul) and Dana O. Dufrene (Jacob); Godfather of Morgan Lagasse, Garrett Boyd and Katie Warrington; Also survived by his Godmother E’Telca Boyd Crawford, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; Former operator at Chevron Oronite for over 27 years. Wheldon was devoted to his family and friends. Spending time at the Ranch in Bogalusa, going on family vacations and boiling crawfish for his annual Easter crawfish boil meant the world to him. He enjoyed fishing, going to the casino, dining out, collecting various items, and always looked forward to spending time with family for various gatherings. He was passionate to teach others about investment opportunities. Since being diagnosed with cancer five years ago, Wheldon’s faith and trust in the Lord God strengthened him. He selflessly took on the role of performing everyday life chores; not because he was asked to, but because he chose to live in spite of cancer. He supported the love of his life, Angel, in any way he could. His wittiness and sense of humor, easy going and larger than life personality, infamous storytelling, thoughtfulness, kindness, and willingness to help anyone who crossed his path, will be missed by all who knew him. Relatives and friends of the family, also employees of Chevron Oronite are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 8968 Hwy 23, Belle Chasse, LA on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until funeral time. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA, immediately following mass.
