Wanda Fontenot Kohlman

April 3, 1951 — May 3, 2026

Westwego

Wanda Fontenot Kohlman, born on April 3, 1951, touched the lives of everyone who knew her with a warmth and kindness that was as genuine as it was profound. On May 3, 2026, we lost a remarkable soul who was the unshakable glue holding her beloved family together.

Wanda had an extraordinary gift for lighting up any room she entered. Her presence was a comfort, her laugh an invitation to happiness, and her compassion a shelter for those weathering storms of sadness. She was the person you could always count on to turn a difficult day into one filled with hope and joy. Her spirit of selflessness propelled her to go out of her way, time and again, to ensure that the happiness and wellbeing of others came first.

Throughout her life, Wanda dedicated many years to serving the community through her work at Grace Christian Church. Her devotion to this calling was just one reflection of her compassionate spirit. At home and beyond, she was known for her boundless kindness and her talents that enriched the lives of those she loved.

Wanda’s passions were as varied as they were heartfelt. She found great joy in riding her beloved horse, Cheyenne, feeling free and connected to nature. Her artistic talents shone brightly as she painted landscapes and crafted delicate necklaces, sharing these creations with those she cherished. She also took delight in collaborating with her sister Cheryl Carmouche to create beautiful floral arrangements, contributing to the warmth and beauty settings of family gatherings. A gifted cook, Wanda expressed her love and care through the meals she lovingly prepared, nourishing both body and soul.

She leaves behind a loving family who were central to her world. Her devoted husband, David Kohlman, stood steadfast by her side. Wanda’s life was enriched by her children Amanda and Jessica Kohlman. Her brothers, David and Brian Fontenot, and sister Cheryl Carmouche, remain cherished family pillars. The laughter and light she fostered will live on through her grandchildren Destiny Graf, Kaylee Lehrmann, Natalie Graf, Amber Lehrmann, Jarrod Martin, Ashlyn Kohlman, and through the bright eyes of three great-grandchildren: Blakely Brigalia, Maverick Brigalia, and Grayson Lehrmann, each carrying a piece of Wanda’s radiant spirit within them.

Her passage from this world also brings a tender remembrance of those who preceded her: her beloved parents, Esther and Sisco Fontenot, her aunt Myrle Zeringue Lozes, and her brother Shannon Fontenot, whose memories are treasures held dearly by all who loved her.

Wanda Fontenot Kohlman was more than a family member; she was a beacon of love, a source of joy, and a wellspring of comfort. Though she has departed this world, the brightness she brought into our lives remains an everlasting light in our hearts. Her love and kindness will forever inspire those privileged to have known her. We honor Wanda not only for the life she lived but for the indelible mark she leaves upon the hearts of her family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration Of Life Service to honor Wanda Fontenot Kohlman on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 11AM at Old Metairie Protestant Church, 1301 Metairie Road, Metairie, LA 70005
