Vlaho “Frank” Frankovich passed away peacefully at Ochsner Westbank Hospital on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the age of 78. He was a resident of Buras, Louisiana for 57 years. He is the beloved son of Matija Erceg Frankovich and Vlaho Frankovich.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sally Franecivich Frankovich, his son, Anthony Matthew Frankovich (Shannon), his daughter, Andrea’ Frankovich Galmiche (Anthony), his cherished grandchildren, Emilee Galmiche, Ayden Frankovich, Blaise Galmiche, Kade Frankovich, Karlee Frankovich, and his beloved cousin, Ivo “John” Vuckovich, beloved sister-in-laws Janie Scarabin (the late Teddy Scarabin), and Mallory Mays (Gary), as well as host nieces and nephews. Born on October 30, 1947, in Trpanj, Croatia, Frank came to the United States as a young man and built a life rooted in hard work, perseverance and an unwavering love for his life on the water as a commercial oyster fisherman and later as a tugboat captain, a profession he took great pride in and one that reflected his strength, determination, and deep connection to the Louisiana coast.
While Frank worked hard throughout his life, his greatest accomplishment was the family he loved so dearly. He was a devoted husband, proud grandfather, and loyal friend. Nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with his children and grandchildren sharing stories, laughter, and life’s special moments. Frank truly loved woodworking, grass cutting, and keeping busy. Frank never met a stranger.
With a warm smile, kind heart, and gift for conversation, he had a way of making everyone feel welcome. Whether you knew him for years or met him only once, chances are you left feeling like a friend.
From the shores of Trpanj, Croatia, to the waters of Louisiana, Frank built a life defined by hard work, deep family bonds, and friendships that followed him wherever he went.
His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the lives he touched, and the memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
