Velma D. Duplechin entered eternal rest on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Leroy “Teenie” Duplechin, Jr. Daughter of the late Freeman Doucet and Laura Cantrelle Doucet. Daughter-in-law of the late Mae and Roy Duplechin. Mother of Donna D. Chabert and the late Danny Duplechin and Kerry Duplechin. Velma is survived by several grand- and great-grandchildren. She is the sister of Randolph “Randy” (wife Glenda) Doucet and the late Bernice D. Hargis, Thelma D. Matherne, Bertha D. Lewis, Laura Mae Doucet, Freeman Doucet, Francis Doucet, Ernest Doucet and Richard Doucet. Velma is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Special appreciation to Velma’s brother, Randolph and his wife, Glenda S. Doucet, her nieces and nephews, Randall and wife Dixie Doucet, Lauren and Carl Gegenheimer, Elizabeth and daughter, Kim Stilger and Darnell Tierney as well as her special friends, Jan and husband Glenn Percle and Bucky and his wife Sally Dufour as well as Heart of Hospice for their love and care given to Velma. Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, Louisiana on Friday, February 13, 2026, beginning at 8:30AM until 11AM. A Funeral Mass will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday at 11AM. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, Louisiana.
