VALERIE LYNN THIBODAUX passed away on December 1, 2016. Valerie was born on May 1, 1944 to Clouet John and Leza Pennison Thibodaux and was a lifelong resident of Gretna, LA. She is survived by her sister, Iris Thibodaux Coyne (husband Lynn); niece Anne Coyne Hebert (husband Dion); nephew Greer Coyne; great-nephews David Newton, Christopher Newton and Collin Coyne; cousins John Cogan, Wayne Cogan, Annalee Ginnetti, Linda Otnott, Carol Turner, Ronnie Thibodaux, Paul Thibodaux, Barbara Adler, Kay LeGros, and many other relatives and friends.
Valerie graduated in 1962 from Holy Name of Mary High School in Algiers. In 1966 she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Loyola University in New Orleans, and then a Master's Degree in Education in 1970, also from Loyola. Her entire teaching career, spanning 39 years, was at Edna Karr High School in Algiers. Valerie was a member of the National Tri-Sigma Sorority and The Sweet Adelines Sound Chorus for many years.
A special “Thank You” is extended to Dr. Richard C. Kline and his staff at the Benson Cancer Center of Ochsner Medical Center, as well as the Heart of Hospice Group.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Tuesday December 6, 2016 from 9 AM until 12:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will follow in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at Westlawn Memorial Park in Gretna. In lieu of flowers Mass offerings or charitable donations are preferred.
