Sterling Silver, Sr, 60, entered into his eternal rest Monday, September 09, 2024. He was born in Marrero, LA, grew up in Lafitte, LA, and lived his life in Gretna, LA.
As a teenager, Mr. Silver worked at the Little Lake Hunting club in Lafitte, LA. His his main passion in life was to be a mechanic, learning the skills from his father at a young age. Mr. Silver grew to become a great mechanic with the ability to to work on any engine including diesel trucks, boats, cars until he retired in 2015. When Mr. Silver was not working you could find him spending time with his family or in the kitchen cooking a feast,. His favorite ingredient was crab boil. Mr. Silver was a kind man known for making everyone laugh with his jokes, pranks and sayings such as “Who does number two work for?” or “That's a good dog!!”. He left little to no dull moments which earned him the name Uncle Clown. Mr. Silver’s biggest accomplishment were being a father and grandfather. He was always there for his children no matter what and spoiled his grandchildren with laughter, smiles and sweets.
Mr. Silver is preceded in death by his Parents Clayton Silver Sr and Julia Taylor, his son Sterling (Jo-Jo) Silver, Jr and his Nephew Anthony Esta. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth (Silver) Jackson of Rayne, LA and her children Wesley Jackson and Logan Lebouef, and his son Andrew Silver of Gas City IN, his siblings Clayton Silver Jr (Katy), Christina Silver (Ronnie), Brian, Jeffrey and Dorinda, his nieces and nephews, Justin (Stacy), Catherine, Jeff, Paul, Jeffrey, Heather, Thomas (Andrea), Melissa, Dawn, DJ, Daniel, Michael, a host of great nieces and nephews, and his adopted children and grandchildren who called him Pops as well as many friends who became family.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 20th, 2024 at Mothe Funeral Homes located at 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm. The funeral service will start at 1:30 pm. Interment will be private.
