Stephen Cyril Soutullo ,our beloved brother, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the age of 66. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Anthony and Gloria Myrle Soutullo of Gretna, Louisiana. He is beloved brother of Catherine, Joseph (Marde), Peter (Constance), Don (Elsie), Kenneth (Sharon), Annette and Yvette (Bob). He is also survived by longtime friend, Clyde King and nieces and nephews, Amanda, Benjamin, Stephanie, Jody, Peter, Olivia, Isabella, Ashleigh and Graham; other family and numerous friends. Steve was born on November 15, 1950 in Mobile, Alabama. He earned his Masters in Education at SLU in Hammond and taught Spanish and French at Ponchatoula High School before joining the Southeastern Louisiana University staff in 1989. Described as a great ambassador for the University, Steve served as Assistant Vice President and Dean of Enrollment Management. He passed along to students his career philosophy, “ Find a place you love to be, find something you love to do and do it like there’s no tomorrow.” Steve was committed to his family- a very big family. It was not just his late mother and father, his four brothers, three sisters, and niece whom he helped rear, who received his devotion. For Steve “ family” also included his friends, colleagues, staff and students at Southeastern and later, the University of Houston. For almost three decades his hallmark has been “Service with a smile”. Steve lived a life of service and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 5:00PM until 9:00 PM continuing on Thursday, May 11, 2017 beginning at 8:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna. The family welcomes donations to the Joseph and Gloria Soutullo Memorial Scholarship Fund.
