Stasy J. Charles, age 23, passed away in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Born on May 26, 2002 in Haiti, Stasy began her journey surrounded by love and family. She attended kindergarten in Haiti before coming to the United States in September 2008 at the age of six with her brother Christopher Charles and her parents Jeannette Charles and Jerry Charles. She began school in New Orleans from first grade through high school, graduating from John Ehret High School in 2020. She then attended Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge.
Stasy was a sweet, loving, and talented young woman. She loved people deeply, sang and danced at church events, and participated in cheerleading. Her Catholic faith was an important part of her life. She loved Haitian food, enjoyed doing hair and makeup, and always sought ways to help others, often asking her mother to send money to support their family in Haiti. Stasy had a playful sense of humor, especially at her mother’s friends’ homes, where she always made her presence known with laughter and a love for food. She was the first child on her mother’s side and grew up caring for her younger siblings, often serving as her parents’ little helper and babysitter. She had a beautiful gift for making people feel seen, always offering compliments and encouragement.
Stasy is survived by her loving parents, Jeannette Charles and Jerry Charles, and siblings Aisha Charles, Andrea Charles, Christopher Charles, Jason Charles, Quincy Charles, and Jaden Charles. Her grandparents include Idemia Chermont, Deny Charles, Andrea Beauville, and Alberto Leveille. Her aunts are Amielle Louis, Modelina Leveille, Rettile Charles, and Avelima Beauville. Her aunts on her father’s side include Benitha Marie Denise, Isabelle, Rosie, Betty, Mode, and Junie Charles. Her uncles are Lafantant, Jackson, Jean Albert, Renel, Kenold (Louis) Francois Beauville, Jean Denis, Wilmen, Sonny, Gary, Samy, Casimer, and Fatona. She leaves behind close cousins and friends who were more than family like close sisters, Lucette Renee Sylvain, Dolandraah Grecy Saintcyr, Myra Saintcyr, Areil Vallius, and Claudette Ashley Vallius. She also leaves behind Myrlaine Delva, Josmie Charles, Marley Charles, Carole Merzius, and Michel Sylvain, who were like a second set of family to her, like a mother and father. She also leaves her other best friends and many other cousins, including members of the Charles, Leveille, Beauville, and Louis families. Stasy’s godchildren were Chaiska Jean and Kiona Deli; her godmother was Simmone Louis and her godfather was Sonny Charles.
Stasy’s presence brought joy, love, and laughter to all who knew her. She will be remembered for her style, her humor, her generosity, her protective spirit, and her unwavering love for family and friends.
