Shelly Lynn Rodriguez Romano passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at the age of 47. She was born in Marrero, Louisiana, on December 27, 1978, to Sharon Marek and Garry Rodriguez, and was blessed with the love and guidance of her stepparents, Gaylynn Rodriguez and the late John Marek.

Shelly was a devoted mother to Kevin Romano, Devin Romano, Saverio Romano, Alayna Romano, and Aaliyah Romano, and a loving grandmother to Amara Romano. She is survived by her sister, Shana Marek, whom she was raised alongside, and her beloved nieces and nephews, Sha’Myrie Bailey, Sha’Lajah Bailey, and Dannon Shaw Jr., who held a special place in her heart. She is also survived by her longtime partner of 15 years, Wayne Mire Jr., as well as other siblings, extended family, and many friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Shelly was raised by her mother, Sharon Marek, and her beloved grandmother, Mawmaw Virgie Bourg Dugas, whose love, strength, and guidance shaped the woman she became. Shelly was the heart of her family. She never missed a moment that mattered and made sure every gathering felt like home. Her children and grandchild were her greatest joy, and the love she gave so freely is the legacy she leaves behind.
