He then worked for Chevron Oronite until he became self-employed in 1966 as the owner and operator of Spahr’s Spur Service Station/Gas and Food Mart for 25 years. During that time, he also managed other business ventures including a deli and catering service, laundromat, pizza restaurant, and property management. Throughout life his hobbies included repairing and restoring vehicles, machinery, houses…basically anything. He also enjoyed painting, drawing, photography, baking, golfing, landscaping, and flying…even owning an airplane at one time. In retirement, Paul continued a work schedule with family and friends at Langridge Plant Sales then Southern Gateway all the while still lending a helping hand to others whenever needed.
Paul had a whole-hearted and gentle love for his family and friends sharing an abundance of special times through the years that will live on in the memories of all who loved him dearly. He found joy in his hard work and greater joy in helping others. Paul had an immense intellect and presence of mind combined with a remarkable understanding of an ever-changing world and of those around him. His wisdom, compassion and engaging conversations were his trademarks combined with his good-natured spirit that welcomed everyone he encountered throughout his life. Forever in our hearts, he will always remain a treasured husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, trusted friend, respected boss, and valued mentor to many. Now in the arms of our Sweet Lord, we await our reunion with Paul in eternal life with our Heavenly Father.
