Ryan Curtis Wattigney, 39, of Belle Chasse, Louisiana, tragically passed away surrounded by his loved ones on August 2, 2025. Born in Gretna, on April 22, 1986, Ryan lived a full and passionate life rooted in family, friendship, and adventure.
Ryan has always lived life full throttle from the moment he was born. A rambunctious child full of curiosity, his family could keep you laughing for hours telling stories about him. Growing up on the Westbank, you could often find him with his brother & friends at the baseball field or fishing in the canals.
Ryan was a proud Holy Cross Tiger, graduating with the Class of 2004. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Nicholls State University where he played lacrosse. He later went on to get an Associate’s Degree in Process Technology from Nunez. Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, Ryan became a third-generation plumber and the proud owner of Plumbing Pros Nola, which he successfully ran for the past decade. Anyone that has ever worked with Ryan would tell you that he would go above and beyond for everyone he met. Always a smile on his face, he was a friend to all.
Ryan was happiest when he was outside being active with his family & friends. He began hunting at just seven years old with his dad, grandpa, and brother. He still enjoyed spending his time at their hunting camp in Mississippi often, searching for the biggest bucks & making memories around the fire. Ryan spent countless weekends on the bayou or the beach with his amazing, large group of friends that were more like family. He lived his life for adventure, and he traveled often with his wife and kids. He loved the beach, hiking, fishing, stargazing, water sports, skiing… there is nothing he wouldn’t try and wasn’t good at. Ryan was a passionate sports fan—he loved Saints football, LSU baseball, and had recently become a devoted NY Rangers fan after a trip for his daughter’s 13th birthday. He also helped coach his son’s baseball team to a championship this summer as well that he was so proud of.
Ryan’s greatest joy was his family. He loved his wife, Dana and his children, Mila and Rex, more than anything. He was the type of Dad who was at every game and every event. Hardworking, loving, caring, smart, and funny. The type of husband and dad everyone wishes for. They lived every moment of life together, and you could often find them traveling, at live music, sporting events, and enjoying their family of four. They will miss him dearly as he was the best there ever was.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Dana Wattigney, and their two children, Mila and Rex, who were the lights of his life. He is also survived by his mother Andrea Wright (Gene), father Keith Wattigney (Patti), brothers Keith Wattigney Jr. (Ora & Kynleigh) and Cody Wattigney, and sister Alayna Wright. Ryan will also be missed by a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws that meant the world to him. Ryan was blessed with a wide circle of close friends who were like family - and he loved each of them deeply. Bubby, Dustin, Shawn, Scott, Robbie, Jason - you are his brothers for life.
To know Ryan was to love him. His presence was larger than life, and the void of his absence is even bigger. His loyalty, humor, and contagious spirit touched everyone he met. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, deep friendships, and unforgettable memories with his family. Forever in our hearts and taken from us far too soon.
