A loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, great-great-great grandfather, brother, friend, Army Veteran and retired Railroad Engineer. Roger Burrows, Sr., entered eternal rest on Friday, September 15, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. He was 90 years old. He was born September 14, 1933, in New Orleans. He retired from Southern Pacific Railroad after 44 years. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lovell Janet Burrows; 6 Children, son, Bruce Wayne; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Ann and Cornell; daughter, Janie Theresa; daughter, June Elizabeth; son and daughter-in-law, Roger Joseph, Jr. and Yvette; and daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Christine and Robert; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Duane Roussel; 16 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his son, Michael James; father and stepmother, Joseph Charles Burrows and Alexia Hanks Burrows; mother and stepfather, Louise Essinger Stamps and Ralph Stamps; sister and brother-in-law, Jo-Ann Burrows Hardeman and Kingston Hardeman; and sister, Maryann Hulin.
Roger was a member of Knights of Columbus Archbishop Blenk Council 1905 of Gretna; Golden Age Club (Theta); St. Joseph Church in Gretna; Senior Center of South Pearl River County; American Legion, and Cruisin Cajuns Motor Home Club.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, La, at 1pm on Friday, September 22, 2023. The visitation will begin at 11am. Interment will immediately follow Mass at Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna, La.
