Rodney Joseph Camardelle

Rodney Joseph Camardelle, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Born October 23, 1941. Son of the late Livingston Joseph Camardelle and Dolores Terrebonne Camardelle. Brother of the deceased Russell J. Camardelle (Little Moose).
He is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Marjorie (Margie) Lehnig Camardelle and their children, Glen Michael (Kathy Davis), Monica Lenore Reynen (Michael) and Paul Livingston (Kelly Ludwig).
Grandfather of Kirsten C. Snapp (Andy), Coty Christian Reynen, Glen M. Camardelle, Jr. (Marianne), Dre Anthony Camardelle, Dylan Paul Camardelle (Sarah Robichaux), Sidney Rose Reynen (Ryan Fitzgerald), Collin Reaves Camardelle, Zoe Angel Camardelle and Isabella Ann Camardelle. Great grandfather of Piper Grace, Nora Rose, Ethan Marsh Snapp and Olivia and Giovanni Luciano Camardelle; and Special Grandpa to Tillie Reilly and Laiken Barbado. Rodney cherished his many nieces and nephews, as well as his long list of friends over the years.
Rodney was a graduate of West Jefferson High School, Class of 1959, Spencer Business College, The New Orleans Police Academy, and the LSU Law Enforcement Institute.
He was employed by the US Army at the Port of Embarkation until it closed in early 1964. He then served as a Police Officer with the Westwego Police Department and then with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office under Sheriff Cronvich, where he served as a Road Sargent and Acting Lieutenant.
He further expanded his employment as a bartender at Visko’s Restaurant, The Tahiti Club, The Round Table, The Celebrity Club. He was also owner/operator of Rodney's Sports Page and Rodney's Place. Subsequently, he was employed by Test, Inc. as an expeditor, from which he retired.
Rodney coached for a number of years at PARD Playground in a variety of sports. He was an umpire with the Veterans Umpire League for men's softball leagues and girl’s middle & high school softball.
He was a Charter Member of the West Bank Elks Lodge #2496 and member of the Ray Hester Chapter of the Green Wave Club for many years. He was a longtime fan and supporter of Tulane Athletics since he served as an usher with the Boy Scouts at Tulane Stadium in the 1950s. He enjoyed membership with the Bengal / Green Wave Fun Bunch Club and the T & T Club where wheel barrow parades followed the games. He was also a member of the Gretna Gators; the Gretna Historical Society and The German American Cultural Society.
Rodney was also a member and Usher at Visitation of Our Lady Church in Marrero, and a member of "The Crowns Catholic Social Club" since high school.
The family would like to give a special Thanks to the Nurses, Doctors and Staff in the ICU unit at Ochsner West Bank for the wonderful care and compassion they gave to Rodney during his illness.
Visitation will be held at Mothe’s Funeral Home on Lapalco Blvd in Marrero, on Monday, November 14, 2022, 11:30 a.m., with mass to follow at 1:30 p.m. Internment at Our Lady of Prompt Succor & Holy Guardian Angles Cemetery in Westwego. Family and friends may offer condolences at mothefunerals.com
