Robert Earl Boaz

Robert Earl Boaz, a resident of Belle Chasse left his earthly home for his home in glory on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at the age of 71. Known to his family and friends as Earl, he was born in East St. Louis, Illinois on November 29, 1951 and grew up in Cahokia, Illinois.

As a senior in high school, Earl made the decision to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Navy. After being sworn into the Cardinal Company at a St. Louis Cardinal game, Earl completed his senior year before shipping off to boot camp. His adventures with the Navy brought him to South Georgia, where he met the love of his life, Deanna Lane Brown.

Earl served as an avionics electrical technician and completed multiple tours aboard the aircraft carriers USS Saratoga and Ranger during the Vietnam War. In addition to a lifetime of memories and his beautiful wife, the US Navy also supplied Earl with some of the greatest friends a man could hope for who are now considered family. In 1985 Earl was promoted to Chief and completed twenty-four years in the Navy retiring in 1993.

Earl and Deanna were blessed with two boys, Scott in 1974 and Sean in 1982. He retired from Amentum (DynCorp) in 2022. Earl was known for his comical sense of humor, his guitar playing, picking and grinning skills, and his love of being the helpful and organized “Hook Em Up Pops.”

Earl is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Deanna Lane Brown Boaz, his sons Scott (Becky) and Sean (Mandy), grandchildren Kaylee, Tatum, Katherine, Seth, and Fiona Boaz, his sister Diane Hearst, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He is preceded in death by his father John Clarence Boaz, his mother Opal Mobley Boaz, and brother John Edwin Boaz.

The family would like to thank Dr. Sophy Jancich and Nurse Zyra of Ochsner, Home Health Nurse Melissa, and Nurse Gayle and the Compassus Team for their care and compassion for Earl and his family.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Earl’s life on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at the First Baptist Church of Belle Chasse, 8828 Hwy. 23, Belle Chasse, LA, 70037. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM with the memorial service to follow at 11:00 AM. As per Earl’s wishes, he will take his final voyage with the Navy to rejoin the open sea.
