Rita Mae Romano Bertolino peacefully entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 28, 2022, at the age of 92. Preceded in death by her beloved and devoted husband of 64 years, Leonard “Bert” R. Bertolino, as well as her parents and siblings.
Loving mother of Katherine R. Blum (Dan), Leonard R. Bertolino, Jr., Gerard A. Bertolino (Kevin J. Grice) and Lawrence G. Bertolino (Sharon). Beloved grandmother of Lauren N. Bertolino and Allyson B. Bouffanie (Bryan). Adoring great-grandmother of Carson W. Bouffanie.
Loving Aunt Rita to many nieces and nephews.
Rita Mae was born in New Orleans, LA., a longtime resident of Gretna, LA., and a recent resident of Belle Chasse, LA.
She graduated from Holy Name of Mary High School in Algiers, Class of 1949. Rita Mae was a member of the Italian American Society, VFW Auxiliary of Gretna, and Theta Golden Agers Club.
Rita Mae was the matriarch of an extended family. She was an exceptional wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was fierce, loving, and kind. Rita Mae welcomed everyone who walked through her door with kindness and affection. She was “Riri” to her adoring grandchildren and many of their friends. She lived for family and friends.
Rita Mae was an outstanding cook who passed on her art to her family. She was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure. The family extends a sincere appreciation and thanks to Tracy Duckworth for providing loving care to Rita Mae.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, from 10AM until 1PM.
