Rita Mable Williams Plaisance, age 88, was called home to her eternal resting place on January 1, 2026. She passed away in her home surrounded by the love of her family and caregivers. Rita was born on December 14, 1937, in Golden Meadow, LA. She grew up in Laffitte, LA, and resided in Marrero for the last 64 years. She was married to the late Corbert J. Plaisance, Sr., from Westwego, LA, for over 64 years. Rita was preceded in death by her father, Omer Smily Williams, her mother Marie Naquin Williams, sister Gloria Williams Badeaux, and brothers Joseph Dardar and Jimmy Williams, Sr. She is survived by her daughter Stacey Plaisance Waguespack (Warren), son Corbert J. Plaisance, Jr, her brother Roy Williams, and grandsons Warren Oliver Waguespack, Jr., and Nicholas Joseph Waguespack. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and loyal friends. She was the Godmother and cousin to many and treasured frequent family gatherings both large and small.
Rita was a lifelong devoted Catholic. She was a parishioner and supporter of St. John Bosco Church in Harvey, LA, St. Charles Borromeo in Picayune, MS, Visitation of Our Lady in Marrero, LA, and Immaculate Conception in Marrero, LA.
Rita was known for her enjoyment of life and selfless generosity with others. She enjoyed the activities of Louisiana life, including trawling, fishing, and crabbing. She was an avid tennis player. She enjoyed many local pleasures in life including sewing, dancing to the beats of swamp pop music, and all the flavors of local cuisine, whether home cooked or in local restaurants. She was known to cruise with family and friends. She enjoyed trips to the casinos. She enjoyed shopping. She enjoyed early morning coffee or late evening dinner and dances with her lifelong friends, and was never afraid to share her thoughts. She is however, most remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother; and the biggest supporter of her family and friends.
The family wishes to express its deepest and sincere thanks to Passages Hospice, especially Anthony, Starr and Lynette; Life Good Homecare Services, especially Chiquite, Melanie, Sandra and Ms. Q; and family friend Marlo for their help and care over the last 2.5 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway in Harvey, LA on January 8, 2026 at 12:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Mothe Funeral Home at 1:30 PM. Internment will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Gretna, LA. May her beautiful soul rest in eternal peace.
