Richard “Dickey” Joseph Autin passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at the age of 82. He met and married Ruth Borne in college and returned to Marrero in January of 1967. Beloved father of Jude Autin (Kristy) and Jared Autin (Rochelle). Son of the late Nola Lorio and Oscar Autin. Brother of Yvonne Clement (Danny) and Ramona Weilman (Bobby). Grandfather of Tristan, Tyler, Brady and Abby. Step grandfather of Anna Copeland. Also survived by 4 nephews and one niece. He graduated from USL in 1967 and returned to join his dad in his insurance agency where they worked together until his Dad’s death. He worked from 1967-1984 Oscar Autin Insurance Agency, 1984- 2001, he was President of the Autin/Cohen Insurance Agency, 1984-2001. He then joined Kennedy, Lewis, Renton Insurance Agency and he retired on December 31, 2020. He served honorably in the Air National Guard where he learned how to fly. He was certified to fly single and multi-engine airplanes and had an instrument rating. He owned various airplanes and enjoyed taking trips in the South and Southwest. He was awarded Insurance Man of the Year Professional Agents of New Orleans and was Past President of the Professional Insurance Agents of Louisiana and New Orleans. He was also a member of the West Jefferson Jaycees, and President of the Westbank Rotary. He had a camp on Grand Bayou where he enjoyed fishing and camping with his sons and grandchildren. He also enjoyed deer, duck and rabbit hunting, flying, and decorative duck carving. He was a member of the Louisiana Wildfowl Carvers and Collectors Guild for the past 23 years and has served as Treasurer since 2008. He enjoyed competing as a professional duck carver at local events and in Ocean City, Maryland, a national duck carving competition. He won many awards for his decorative ducks at local and national levels. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at 12pm at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA. Visitation will be held from 10am until 12pm. Interment, Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in Chackbay, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to LWCCG, P.O. Box 115 New Sarpy, LA 70078.
