Algiers

Raymond Paul Michel, Jr. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, after a long battle with cancer, at the age of 75. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on January 18,1951, to the late Helen and Raymond Michel, Sr.

He was the brother of Joycelyn Treuil, Ronald Michel (Beverly), Robert Michel, and the late Beverly Liuzza and was the lifetime companion of the late Betty DiGiovanni. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends.

A native and proud lifelong resident of Algiers, Raymond graduated from Martin Behrman High School in 1969.  After high school, he joined the Airforce Reserves, serving as a Fireman. Raymond worked many years as the maintenance man at the Westbank campus of Delgado Community College. Raymond was well liked by all those he worked with.

Raymond was a loving, compassionate and most of all a very caring person to all. He enjoyed riding his scooter and spending time with his friends of the Deux Over Scooter Club. Raymond was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Santa Maria Council #2829. He will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the outstanding care provided by Passages Hospice.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Holy Name of Mary Church, 400 Verret Street, Algiers, Louisiana on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 11 a.m. with visitation from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Interment will follow in St Bartholomew Cemetery, 500 De Armas Street, Algiers, Louisiana.
