Rami Lynn Elizabeth Jude Champagne
On April 14, 2026 at approximately 2:40 AM, she heard God’s special angels calling her to Heaven. Rami was 50 years old and a special needs, beautiful soul. She loved all animals and babies, but the one thing that was closest to her heart were turtles. Rami graduated from St. Michael’s Special School. When she entered the program, she thrived! She was a member of the St. Michael Performing Bell Group. She was also active in Special Olympics, earning Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals. She had an incredible creative side, learning sign language, played piano by ear and learned the guitar. Her jewelry was well known and sought after in many local gift shops. She also was an accomplished sketch artist and enjoyed making and selling candles.
She was the daughter of Lynn Champagne. Rami was born in New Orleans and was a lifelong resident of the Westbank. She adored her brother, Brett Champagne (wife Mary) and two nieces. Granddaughter of Nathan and Pearl Lirette Champagne. She is the niece of the late Warren and Adlis Lirette Lanassa and their only son, Darryl Lanassa. Goddaughter of the late Hilton and Carol Lirette. She is cousin of Debra Allemand, Darla Dufrene, Danna, and Donna Lynn.
Rami met a young man nearly 23 years ago. A friend of hers, Mike Blake, introduced them saying they were good for each other and he was correct. They were together as boyfriend/girlfriend but always remained true to each other. They loved one another with the purest of hearts and respect. She was loved by his Mom and Dad and the family. That young man is Robert Zeringue, and as her mother, I too feel that Robert and Rami will always have that bond.
She was a regular bowler with the Happy Bowlers League. Every Tuesday at Rock n Bowl, you could hear her cheers and laughter for each other. Two people who were the mentors and friends for these young people were Tom Creel and Jane Heidingxfelder.
The family would like to express their gratitude to PCA Beverly Bridges, Debra Hart, and Jo Tullier. Special thanks to Dr. Charles W. Thomas for his care and compassion.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 9 AM to 1 PM. A Funeral Mass will follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park.
