Rachael DeBattista Edmondson

Rachael DeBattista Edmondson peacefully passed away on May 13, 2025 at the age of 103. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 26 years Louis “ Sonny” Edmondson. Rachael was the daughter of the late Joseph DeBattista and Angelina Mancuso. Rachael was also preceded in death by her sisters Lena Mary DeBattista, Rose DeBattista Daigle (Bernard), Rosalie DeBattista Daigle (Lloyd), Conchetta DeBattista Dubret (John) and her brothers Salvadore DeBattista (Grace) and Joseph DeBattista (Lori). Rachael is also survived by 19 nieces and nephews, 41 grand nieces and nephews and 53 great nieces and nephews and 4 great, great nephews and nieces. Rachael was a lifelong resident of Algiers, Louisiana and a lifelong member of Saint Andrew the Appostle Church. She attended Behrman HS and afterwards focused primarily on volunteer work for local charities. Rachael enjoyed sewing, gardening, refurbishing old furniture and hanging out with “Grand Rouge”, her Irish Setter. She was quite a baker as well and known for her almond lace cookies and biscotti. Rachael enjoyed spending time with her nephews and nieces. She loved going out to the lakefront for crabbing off the sea wall or picking up kids after school and taking them to the Mardi Gras parades in New Orleans. In her later years, her volunteer work focused on Woldenberg Village, where she later became a resident. The family extends their gratitude to her doctors at Touro Infirmary and the staff at Woldenberg Village. The family would also like to thank the staff at the Touro Emergency Room who took great care and made her comfortable during her final hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Mothe Funeral Home, located at 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey , LA  on Friday, May 23, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, A Funeral Mass will follow at 1pm.Interment, Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
