Phyllis Darlene Rome Gutierrez passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 5, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 65, after a brief battle with cancer. Beloved wife to Rogelio “Poncho” Gutierrez of 42 years. Mother of Matthew Gutierrez (Mindy) and Veronica Gutierrez. Daughter of the late Alice and Huey Rome. Sister of Doris Watts, Gloria Wallace and Christopher Rome. Grandmother of Aisha Palka, Mariah Gutierrez and A’leeyah Gutierrez. Mother figure of Amanda McGregor, and Courtney Bordelon. Grandmother figure of Jayden, Serenity, Caden, Braiden, and Adylina. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Phyllis was a central figure caring deeply for her family and friends. She was the owner of Gutierrez Lawn Care where she remained loyal and engaged to her numerous landscaping customers. She was a native of Los Angeles, California and a resident of Marrero, LA. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Monday, March 13, 2023 at 11am.
