A native of Harvey, LA and resident of Gretna, LA for over 60 years. Veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II in the Pacific Theater making six invasions. These included Marshall Islands, Saipan, Guam, Leyte, Iwo Jima, and Lu Sand. A proud sailor, Paul's love for the Mississippi River began as a young boy and continued throughout his life. In 1990, Paul retired from the Crescent River Port Pilots Association after 29 years of service. Lovingly known as Papa, Paul's greatest accomplishment was being the very best grandfather to seven and great-grandfather to twelve. Paul never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. His colorful stories and love for music will live on through his family. Paul always said "If I had to do it over again, I wouldn't change a thing."
Special thanks to his loving caregiver and friend, Antonette Smith.
