Patricia Ann Ranatza Helmstetter entered into eternal rest on December 12, 2022 just before midnight to be in the embrace of our Heavenly Father. Surrendering to illness after tirelessly fighting for two years surrounded by those who loved her the most. She is survived by her adoring husband of 52 years, Michael A. Helmstetter, Sr., retired Chief of Police with service to the Crescent City Connection Police Department for 37 years. Mother of Stacie Lynn Helmstetter Dufrene “aka the favorite child,” and Michael A. Helmstetter, Jr. “aka Capt. Mike” (Jennifer). Preceded in death by her mother Rita Palermo Ranatza Cambre and father Joseph Anthony Ranatza, and her sister Rita Mae Ranatza Wunstell. Loving Grandmother to Taylor L. Helmstetter, Matthew A. Helmstetter, Brandon M. Dufrene, Jr., and Rio S. Dufrene. Eternally in the hearts of her siblings Deborah Ranatza Boulas (late Earl), Jannine Cambre Marshall (late Brad), John Stelljes, Sr., (April) and Steve Pelas (Lana). Like a mother to her niece, Jennifer W. Troulliet. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family. Age 70 years, a native of New Orleans, raised in Bridge City, resided in Marrero, until moving to Picayune, MS in 1999. Patricia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and dear friend. She was known as the caretaker in the family and enjoyed spending time cooking and visiting with family and friends. She dedicated employee of Walmart for over 30 years where she was the district office invoice manager until her retirement.
