Nola Marks Gordy

It is with profound love and great sorrow that we announce the passing of Nola Marks Gordy, age 80 of Westwego LA. Nola was called from us suddenly on December 9, 2025.She is preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Nola Marks, and her husband of 34 yrs. Michael P. Gordy Sr. Nola grew up in the Irish Channel. She attended Redemptorist High School, Class of '63. She was a stay-at-home Mom, then worked at both Mercy and Touro Hospital. She loved the medical field. She was previously the owner of Dixie Caterers. She currently worked for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. Nola adored her grandchildren and spoke of them constantly. They were the light of her life and reason for living. She loved going on vacations with them, attending school functions and sports activities. She was very proud of them all. Nola loved to go to the casino and play Booray with friends. Nola leaves behind her three children, Michele Gordy (Roy), Michael Gordy Jr. (Lydia), and Jennifer LaCava (Joe). She was blessed with five grandchildren, Ashley Matthews (Curtis), Charley Figueroa (Rommel), Joseph LaCava V (Nicole), Jordan LaCava (Shaylie), Jayce LaCava (Emma), and seven great grandchildren, Dayten and McKenna Mirambell, Cruz, Ezekiel and Ezra Figueroa and Brielle and Jordan LaCava Jr. Her four sisters, Patricia Myers (Louis), Anne Marks, Diane Harvey, Sally Burke (Gary) and "sister" Phyllis Distefano. A host of nieces and nephews who lovingly referred to her as "Mae Mae". Her loving companion Pee Wee, who never left her side, will miss her greatly. Family, friends and employees of JPSO are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 1pm at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA.
