Naomi Ruth McBroom passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2026 at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Marvin L. McBroom for 49 years. Daughter of the late Althea Trimble Kimmell and Russel Smith. Mother of Randy L. McBroom (Darla) and the late Marvene McBroom Maher (John). Sister of Patti Carter (Paul). Grandmother of Meghan McBroom and Nichole Maher. Aunt of Tammy (Scott), Adam (Erica), Mark (Ginger), Colton, Ashlyn, Max, Emma, Clara, Sarah (Jacob), Kaylee, and Olga. Also survived by many other beloved relatives.
Ruth was one of the Earth’s most incredible folks! If you were blessed enough to know her, you knew this well. She loved to be the boss and always kept her family members and close friends on their toes ----in the best way! She was 100% the queen of the family, and everyone LOVED it! Throughout her life, Ruth was an avid reader. She worked for the St. Charles Parish Library for many years, bringing the joy of reading to countless people. For many of those years, she worked on the bookmobile. In a beautiful full-circle moment, the bookmobile began visiting her twice a month in recent years, arriving with two shopping baskets full of books just for her! In a typical year, Ruth read around 100 books. She was recently asked what the best book she had ever read was, and her response? “How should I know? I’ve read so many!” We might say that Ruth was LSU’s biggest fan AND biggest critic! Her commentary during LSU football games kept her loved ones laughing. One day, her granddaughter, Nichole, decided to record some of those comments and share them with the world on Facebook (or “Spacebook” as she called it), and a new football season tradition was born! Each game day, Ruth’s commentary was shared for everyone to enjoy, allowing people near and far to smile and laugh right along with her family. Ruth was also the ultimate passenger princess to her granddaughter, Meghan. Every Thursday, she got her hair done, and every two weeks, she had a standing nail appointment. After all, Ruth had to make sure her hair and nails were always on point! She rarely missed and appointment and especially enjoyed her visits to the hair salon, where she could catch up on all the happenings around town. Our dear Ruth was loved by countless people. She made the world a little brighter, a lot more interesting, and just the right amount of spicy!. Though we will miss her more than words could ever express, we will carry her stories, laughter, and her unforgettable personality with us always. It would mean the world to Ruth’s family if you would join us for a Celebration of her Life on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at 3 Weinnig Drive, in Luling, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. As we celebrate our incredible “Ruthie,” we invite you to wear bright colors in her honor. Family and friends can view and sign the online guest book at www.mothefunerals.com.
