Nancy Fourtunia Vegas

Nancy Fourtunia Vegas, a beloved lifelong resident of Marrero, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on September 4, 1945, 

Nancy was the cherished daughter of the late Margarit Ramil Moon and Johnny Fourtunia. She was preceded in death by her brother Buddy, and her sisters Esther Dimarco and Clara Bishop. Nancy leaves behind a loving family, including her son Henry J. Schiro, Jr. (Anita); her daughters Rachel Gervais, Paula Watson, Macy Billiot, and the late Angelique Kelly. Her legacy continues through her adored grandchildren—Amanda, Brittany, Dawn, Adam, Dara, Caitlin, Logan, Emily, and Jacob—and her great-grandchildren, Miranda, Jaxon, Parker, Joby, Jacques, Ella Jane, Elijah, Abe, Nora, Haven, June, Sage, and Ty. Nancy was predeceased by her late husband, Eugene A. Vegas, and is fondly remembered by her lifelong friend, Linda Kelly.

Known for her loving kindness and big heart, Nancy was a beacon of warmth and friendliness to everyone she met. Her generous spirit was especially evident through her work at Lapalco Seafood on Behrman Highway, where she was deeply loved by her customers. Nancy's home was filled with joy and companionship, shared with her beloved fur babies, Peanut, Lucky, Pup, and Angel, who will miss her dearly.

Family and friends are invited to honor Nancy's memory at a service on December 23, 2025, at 9 a.m. at Mothe Funeral Home in Harvey. Nancy's life was a testament to the power of love and kindness, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
