MSgt. Donald Joseph Sheppard, U.S.A.F. (Ret.)

MSgt. Donald J. Sheppard, U.S.A.F. (Ret.), passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025 at the age of 90. Beloved husband of the late Myra Decker Sheppard. Loving father of Susan S. Buchholz (Anthony), David A. Sheppard (Eileen), Harold J. Sheppard (Kim), and Karen S. Newcomb (the late Blaine). Grandfather of Ashley Buchholz (Lindsey), Rachel Lytle (Ross), and Madalyne Sheppard. Brother of the late Edward and Henry Sheppard. Son of the late Mamie St. Romain Sheppard Campo and Edward Sheppard. Step-son of the late Albert Campo. Also survived by other loving relatives and friends.

Donald was a retired Master Sergeant with the Louisiana Air National Guard, 159th Tactical Fighter Wing, stationed at Alvin Callender Field in Belle Chasse, LA. He served for 38 years as an avionics radio technician, maintaining the planes electronic systems including calibration and repair of radio communication and instrumentation.

He always saw the good in people and brought out the best in those he met. He was generous, kind, and had a giving and loving heart. He was a believer in God and his son, Jesus Christ and called upon his name daily. He will be sadly missed but his legacy will live forever.

Visitation will be held at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 10 AM to 1:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the funeral home chapel. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park in Gretna.
