Milford Gearald Burnitt

Milford Gearald Burnitt entered into eternal rest on June 22, 2023. Beloved husband of Mary Alice Moore Burnitt for 62 years.  Father of Michael Burnitt (Monique), Mary Kay Burnitt, Karen Burnitt Rowley, and Kathy Burnitt Cavanaugh (Chuck). Grandfather of Andrew Clifford, Corey Clifford (Theresa), Kourtney Clifford (Matt Miller), Cody Rowley (Maribel), Alexis Rowley (Celinda Monterroso), Bria Tucker (Tim), and Spencer Zito (Andrea). Great-grandfather of Jude, Charlie, Clara, Flora, Alice’, Freya, Noellia, and Lola. Son of the late A C Burnitt and Billie Belvin Burnitt. Brother of Sherry Burnitt and uncle of Cameron and Kendall Reichbach.

Also survived by brother-in-law Harry Moore (Connie), former son-in-law Todd Clifford, and a host of nieces and nephews. Age 83 years, a native of Sulphur, LA and resident of Harvey, LA for the past 63 years. Milford graduated from Sulphur High School and graduated from University of Southwestern Louisiana at Lafayette in electrical engineering, and received his master’s degree from Louisiana State University. He worked for Chrysler in the early stages of the NASA Space Program with the Moon mission, and then for many years in the oil field designing offshore oil rigs. He was an avid LSU and Saints Fan, and enjoyed reading and spending time with his family. He takes with him a wealth of family stories and history as he was a great storyteller.  He was a not a boisterous man, but positively influenced many lives with his honesty and integrity.  He will be deeply missed by all. 

Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 11 AM. Visitation will be held from 9 AM until 11 AM. Cremation will follow. Interment will be private at a later date at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
