Mildred "Millie" Tournear Pelas

Mildred "Millie" Tournear Pelas, 88, passed away on May 11, 2026.

Born July 23, 1937 in Quincy, Illinois, Millie was the daughter of Ralph and Zelma Buskirk Tournear, and resided in Plaquemines Parish for 68 years. She was known for working at Emile's and the Empire Inn. She enjoyed playing Bouray, dominos, and Lotto scratch offs, and she was an avid New Orleans Saints and LSU Tiger fan.

Mille is survived by sons Larry Joe Pelas, Jr. (Missy) of Buras and Mark Tournear (Carol) of Abbeville; daughter Lori of Loreauville; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister Norma Motes of Hattiesburg, MS and her daughters Missy Williamson (Charlie) and Crystal Matt of Texas; nieces Holly Matt and Teresa Tournear of Orange, TX; and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers Clifford Tournear, Roy Tournear, and Allen Tournear; and sisters Helen Tournear and Dorothy Wells. 

The family would like to thank Michelle and Allen with Heart of Hospice and Pam Stipelcovich. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at the home of Larry and Missy Pelas on a later date.
