Mildred Ruth “Billie” Hecker Baguley passed away peacefully in her villa at Woldenberg Village in Algiers on July 11 at the age of 95. She was the daughter of the late John “Henry” Hecker and Georgiana Guidroz Hecker, and the widow of Raymond Baguley. They were married 58 years before his death in 2000, and she always referred to him as “my Ray.” She was a native and lifelong resident of New Orleans except for the earlier years of World War II when she followed her Ray all around the United States before he went off to war in Europe with the Army Air Corps. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband as well as her sisters Jeannette Case and Velma Perino and her brother John Henry Hecker, Jr. She is survived by her children Donna Ruth France (Tim) of Fairfield, OH and Bruce Howard Baguley (Christine) of East Wenatchee, WA, grandchildren Alice Ruth Ross (John) of Bluffton, SC, Andrew France (Sonja) of Jacksonville, FL, Dana Baguley of East Wenatchee, WA, and Naomi Coldiron (Josh) of Spokane, WA and six great grandchildren.
She was born February 19, 1922 and grew up in the Carrollton section of New Orleans. She graduated from McMain High School in 1939, and married her Ray April 4, 1942. After the war the family lived in the Carrollton area before moving to Gentilly Woods in the 1950’s. When her Ray retired they moved to New Aurora section in Algiers. She was a member of Woodland Presbyterian Church and dearly loved by her Woodland family. She spent her last two and a half years living at the Villas of Woldenberg Village.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Woodland Presbyterian Church. Interment will be at a later date at Biloxi National Cemetery with her Ray. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Woodland Presbyterian. MOTHE FUNERAL HOME in charge of arrangements.
