Mike Shano, Sr.

Mike Shano Sr. peacefully entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 6th, 2017 at the age of 85. Son of William Baron Shano of Naples, Italy and Rosalie Angrisano Shano of Marrero, LA. Beloved husband of the late Pelma Percle Shano, beloved father of Mike “Mikey” Shano Jr. (Nina) and Stacy Shano Perez (Raudel). Grandfather of Brittany Shano. Great-Grandfather of Braysen and Camden Balliviero. Mike is the brother of Charlie, and Paul Shano, the late Angelina Bourgeois, Lena Kass, Mary Richard, Joe, Sam, William "Buffa" Shano and Louise Breaux. He was born in Richfield, Wisconsin and resided in Gretna, LA for the past 80 years. Mike enlisted in the Army in 1953 and served in California leaving the service as a PFC with two years of service as a Tractor Operator. Mike retired from Avondale Shipyards as a Heavy Equipment Operator, but also worked at Hero, Plaquemine Parish and Monsanto through his career. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, and telling stories, but his passion was sharing the vegetables from his garden with friends and family. Relatives, friends, and members of the Theta Golden Agers of Terrytown are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 9am until 11am. A Funeral Mass will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11AM. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetary, Gretna, LA.
