Michael P. Shannon

Michael P. Shannon, passed away on November 30, 2024, in New Orleans, Louisiana, at the age of 77. Born on December 2, 1946, in New Hampshire, Michael was the son of William J.Shannon and Louise S. Gordon, and he was preceded in death by his beloved brother and best friend, William H.Shannon, and sister-in-law, Avonelle Shannon.

Michael dedicated a significant part of his life to his career at Avondale Shipyards, where he worked diligently until his retirement. 

He was a proud alumnus of St. Aloysius High School and furthered his education with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Southeastern University.

Micheal had a deep passion for sports , particularly his unwavering support for the LSU Tigers. he loved watching their games and celebrating every victory, creating joyful memories that he shared with family, friends, and everyone that knew him.

Michael is survived by his beloved niece, Shawn Shannon Ribaul, and nephew, William Shannon, along with  Ashley Shannon Duhon, Katherine Ribaul, William C. Ribaul and Drew Ribaul. He will be remembered fondly by his family and friends who cherished his warm spirit and kind heart.

The legacy of Michael P. Shannon will be honored at a graveside service on December 13, 2024, at 10:30AM at Westlawn Memorial Park in Terrytown, Louisiana.

Micheal P. Shannon will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his dedication to his family and his love for LSU.
