Melinda Marie Kirksey

Melinda Marie Kirksey, 47, resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and special friends at her group home on January 6, 2017. Melinda was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 8, 1969. She was most recently a resident of Evergreen Life Services in Baton Rouge. Melinda is survived by her parents, Johnny Robert Kirksey, Jr. and Marsha Nielsen Kirksey; her siblings, Barbara Kirksey Alcon (Chip), and Lawrence Edward Kirksey; her nephew Clyde Dominic Alcon, III, her nieces, Kirksey Marie Alcon and Krieger May Alcon; her great-uncle Milton James LeBlanc, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Melinda was pre-deceased by her grandfathers, Johnny Robert Kirksey, Sr., Lawrence Edward Nielsen, and Nolan Trosclair and her grandmothers, Curtis Connell Gentry Kirksey and Verlin LeBlanc Nielsen Trosclair. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expwy., Harvey, LA on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11am. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, January 13, 2017 from 7pm until 9pm and again on Saturday morning from 9am until 11am. Interment, McDonogh Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Melinda's family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Evergreen for giving her the best care possible and making her feel like family. They went above and beyond and their kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. Additionally, a big thank you to the Hospice of Baton Rouge professionals that helped Melinda and her family with her journey from the land of the living to her ultimate destination to be with our Heavenly Father.
