Mary C. Palmer, born on May 29, 1949, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, peacefully passed away on May 2, 2026, in Marrero. Mary’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, dedication, and care, marked by her deep commitment to family and the many lives she touched through her kindness and talents.
Known affectionately as Cathy to those close to her, Mary spent much of her life nurturing her home and those within it. She was not only a devoted homemaker but also a skilled hairdresser who bravely owned and operated her own business for several years, blending creativity with hard work. Her warm and generous spirit welcomed everyone who crossed her path.
Mary was a great cook, renowned for her generosity around the table. It mattered little if you were hungry—she would always find a way to feed you, comforting with her food and her presence. Her love extended beyond the kitchen into her garden, where her green thumb produced the best cucumbers anyone had ever tasted. Her garden was a sanctuary, much like Mary herself, a place of nurturing and life.
Her crafty hands and artistic eye gave her a gift for flower arrangements and decorating; she loved to share this passion with others, helping bring beauty and joy into their homes. But perhaps one of Mary’s greatest pleasures came from simple moments spent on her porch swing, surrounded by family and friends, enjoying the outdoors and the company of those she loved.
Mary was the heart of her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Palmer, whose memory she held dear. She leaves behind a loving son, Dean Palmer, a cherished daughter, Paula Dejean (Mike), and a close-knit circle of grandchildren: Brock Dejean (Laina), Brooke Dejean, Hope Burnetz (Casey), and Dustin Palmer. Her nurturing spirit extends further still to her beloved great-grandchildren—Rori, Kohen, Stella Jett, Wynter, Willow, and Wyatt—who will cherish her legacy of love and care.
Mary C. Palmer’s life was a testament to the beauty of nurturing others and creating warmth in every space she occupied. Her gentle strength, her boundless generosity, and her loving presence will forever be remembered and deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
