Mary Teresa Lucy Olivier

April 2, 1959 — December 31, 2025

Marrero, LA

Mary Olivier passed away on December 31, 2025, in the presence of her two sisters and her niece, Gretchen. She was loved by all in her family and will be deeply missed. She could make a room feel brighter just by walking in, and she had a knack for spreading kindness and compassion like confetti at a parade.

Mary was a faithful member of St. Anthony Church, where her faith provided her with comfort and guidance. Her deep and abiding love for Jesus Christ began in childhood at just six years old. When she received her First Holy Communion, her joy was so radiant that family members remembered her glowing with happiness. That early love of Christ never left her. After many years away, Mary eventually returned to her Catholic faith, guided by prayer, study, and careful research. Her faith was lived sincerely and boldly, shaping how she treated others and how she understood the world. Those who knew Mary knew that the love of Christ poured from her in the forms of empathy, respect, and genuine charity.

Mary was the sixth of nine children born to Harold and Frances Olivier. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings: Harold Jr., Ruth, Joseph, and Toby. Family was the heart of her existence, and she clung to it like a cat to a warm hearth. Her siblings were her lifelong partners in mischief, laughter, and squabbles that only made the love stronger. Mary is survived by siblings: Peggy, Elmer, David, and Alicia. She also had a special place in her heart for all her cousins and in-laws who she loved dearly.

Mary had a gift for pouring love into the lives of her many nieces and nephews. She cherished gatherings, celebrations, and took every opportunity to turn ordinary days into family memories. She made a point to attend church with her grand-nephew, Caleb, in addition to participating in family vacations and his other sporting events.

Mary retired as an Accounting Supervisor at Production Management Companies, where close friendships were cultivated that lasted till the end of her life.

Mary enjoyed reading books, watching movies, listening to music, and singing. Out of necessity, Mary began her journey learning about diet, nutrition, and disease management when she was diagnosed with diabetes. Her desire to learn about and control her disease continued for more than 53 years. Her knowledge related to diabetes greatly benefited her family and friends alike.

Mary leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, hard work, and family devotion. She will be missed, yes—but she remains in the hearts of those who knew her as someone who believed in Jesus, who loved without measure, and who talked and laughed often with family and friends.
