Mario Guadalupe Fernandez

Mario Guadalupe Fernandez entered into eternal rest on January 19, 2026. Mario was born on January 19, 1947 and died on his 79th birthday at Ochsner Main hospital on Jefferson Hwy. He was thankful to God that he lived that long. He was a Liver Transplant recipient in 2011. He is thankful to all the staff at Ochsner for keeping him going. Mario was born to the union of Juan and Elviria Fernandez. Beloved husband of Yasmine Rivera Fernandez. Brother of Americo Fernandez and Blanca de la Rosa Fernandez. His loving children Mario M. Fernandez and Jena E. A. Fernandez Brupbacher (Emil Roy). Beautiful grandchildren he loved with all his heart Lola J. E. Morrison and Emery Gunner Brupbacher. Step grandkids Emil Roy, Jr., Eugene Rene Brupbacher and Marlee Scobey. Loving sister in law Eilleen Rivera Zaror (late Tony) and brother in law Rafael Rivera, Jr. (Jan). Nieces and Nephews Eileen, Joshua, Rachel, Brandon, Karla, Karina, Frida, Joshua, Chelsea, Great nephew and niece Tristin, Casey, Brandon Jr. With loving regards to Andrew Morrison and the family forever loved by the family. He was a time resident of New Orleans, studied and became a U.S Citizen in the early 70's. Mario worked for EMD City of New Orleans for over 35 years and worked other jobs before he started with the City. His greatest love was his family and spending time in Picayune, MS. He was a man that would help anyone he could. Amor Eterno. He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him. Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 1:30 PM. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM until funeral time.
