Maria Dolores "Mariloli" Lopez

Maria Dolores “Mariloli” Lopez entered eternal rest on Monday, April 20, 2026, at the age of 73. Daughter of the late Elio “Nini” Lopez, Sr. and Emma “Cuca” Lopez. Loving mother of Hector Pineda (Kheena Pineda) and Rick Pineda (Lilliana Guardiola). Beloved Grandmother of James Pineda, Cameron Pineda, Mercedes Pineda and Sophia Pineda. Loving sister of Elio Lopez, Jr. (Vicky Lopez). Aunt of Elio Lopez, III and Cory Lopez. Maria is the niece of the late Antonia Suarez, the late Ramona Suarez, the late Isabela Lopez, the late Concepcion Lopez, the late Ofelia Lopez, the late Josefina Lopez, the late Zoila Lopez, the late Cuca Lopez, the late Fidel Suarez, the late Diomedes Suarez, the late Carlos Lopez, the late Orlando Lopez, the late Argelio Lopez and the late Jose Antoino Lopez. Maria was born in Pedro Betancourt, Cuba. She immigrated to the USA in 1966, proudly becoming a United States Citizen in due course. Although she lived the last 16 years in Texas, she spent most of her life living in New Orleans, Harvey and Westwego, Louisiana. Maria’s final role before retirement was as Patient Advocate for the Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority where she faithfully served those facing mental illness. Some activities she enjoyed included camping, days at the beach, visiting zoos, reading and the movies. She also enjoyed a variety of music. Some of her favorite artists were Julio Iglesias, Barry Manilow, ABBA, the Bee Gees, The Beatles and Andrea Bocelli. But her greatest loves were our Lord Jesus Christ and her family. She remained focused on both until the day she passed. Although she struggled with serious illnesses for most of her adult life, she left behind a strong legacy of faith, resilience and love of family.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, Louisiana on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, beginning at 11AM until 1PM. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1PM. Interment will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, Louisiana.
