Margie Lowry Toney, a longtime resident of Port Sulphur, LA passed away peacefully at home with her loving family on April 18, 2017 at the age of 85 years. Margie is survived by her daughters, Karen Toney and Tammy Toney Killingsworth; grandson, Kyle Ralph Killingsworth; brother James W. Lowry and sister-in-law, Robbie Lowry. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph S. Toney; sister, Dorothy Sorrels, Jean Colligan and brothers-in-law, Lester Sorrels and Joe Colligan and her parents, Loyd and Ruby Buford Lowry. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Margie was born in Freeport, Texas but lived the majority of her life on Lowry Lane in Port Sulphur, Louisiana where she operated her own beauty salon. She met and fell in love with her future husband, Ralph at one of the local poker games and was married to him for 50 years until he passed away in 2008. Margie loved to play golf and go bowling with friends and family. She also loved playing Bingo, going to the casino and playing her numbers for the lottery. She will be best remembered by her loving family for her amazing homemade candies, strong work ethic and motherly love.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 9 AM to 11 AM. Graveside services will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park, 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, LA 70056.
