Marcia Lynne Owen

Marcia Lynne Owen, a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024, at the age of 66.

Born on August 12, 1958, Marcia was the cherished daughter of Eva Lola Owen and Calvin Douglas Owen. She graduated from L.W. Higgins High School in 1976 and dedicated her life to caring for animals as a veterinary technician. With nearly five decades of service at Jesters Veterinary Clinic, Marcia’s compassion and dedication touched the lives of countless pets and their families.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Marvin Robert Owen, and her sister Melanie Sligar. She is survived by her loving sisters Michele Desselle and Melissa Jackson, her brother Mark Owen and his wife, Stephanie, as well as her devoted niece and nephews: Steven Brewer (Brandi), Brian Brewer (Jessica), Spenser Jackson (Kim), Mason Jackson (Tiffani), Kaylee Jackson (Joel), and Joseph Owen. She is also survived by numerous great-nieces and great-nephews who brought her great joy.

Marcia will always be remembered for her warmth, selflessness, and steadfast love for her family, friends, and the animals she cared for so deeply.

A memorial service to celebrate Marcia’s life will be January 19, 2025 @ 3pm, at First Baptist Church Westwego 703 Avenue B.

She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of kindness and care will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Family requests due to her passion and love for animals, in lieu of flowers donations to the Jefferson Parish Animal shelter would be appreciated.
