Marceline Trahant Toups peacefully entered her eternal rest on Saturday. July 29, 2023, at the age of 92. She was born on November 7, 1930, in Gretna, LA to Marguerite Fisher Trahant and Clarence Trahant, both of whom have preceded her in death. Marceline resided in Gretna her entire life. Marceline joins her devoted and loving husband, Olden C. Toups, Sr. (“GaGa”) who preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Olden C. Toups, Jr. (Glory) and her beloved grandson Conner R. Toups, truly the apple of her eyes and joy of her life. She is preceded in death by her three siblings, Rose Pierron, Clarence Trahant, and Louis Trahant. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, and their children. She will be missed by her dear friend of nearly 90 years, her sister-in-law Elaine Bischoff Toups, with whom she spoke every day. Marceline was a trusted and respected store manager at Lerner Shops for over 25 years. She was a devoted and respected employee of the City of Gretna prior to her ultimate retirement. During her life she acquired many dear friends and acquaintances who have remained so up to the time of her passing. The same is true of her tenants at the Toups Trailer Park, who became some of her dear friends. Marceline was very outgoing and easily made friends. She was a cherished member of St. Cletus Catholic Church where she was a volunteer in many religious and charitable organizations. She was a founding member and volunteer in the St. Cletus St. Joseph's Alter. Marceline was a voracious reader. She loved to travel. She loved LSU and the Saints. Marceline was a wonderful cook, and her recipes for sweet potato casserole and peanut butter pie will be savored by all and passed on for generations. She loved her family, but she had a soft spot in her heart for her grandson Conner. He will carry her memory in his heart for the rest of his life. The family gives thanks to her nieces Janice Wilcox and Jo Ellen Livingston who were so devoted to her, especially at the end of her life. And a very special thanks to Ms. Stella Gallaway who was her caregiver, companion and friend who comforted her during the last year of her life. A big thanks to all the staff at Our Lady of Wisdom who helped Marceline in her final days.
