Manuel Mata passed away suddenly on Friday, May 9, 2025, at the age of 66. He was born on December 2, 1958, in Cuauhtemoc, Chihuahua, Mexico to Jose Manuel Mata and the late Elvia Olivas Mata, he resided in Bridge City, LA for 47 years.
Devoted husband of 44 years, to Louella Gautreaux Mata. Loving father of Brandy Mata, Lillian Mata, Manuel Mata (Tiffany) and Elvia Mata. Proud grandfather of Hailey Allen, Ryan Pittman, Richard Allen Jr., Emma Mata, Alonzo Martinez, Madden Mata and Kailex Reid. Brother of Maricela Mata, Lupe Mata, and the late Leonardo Mata (Martha), Sonia Galaviz (Martin), Hector Mata (Mayra), and the late Luis (Julia), Eloy Mercado (Francisco), Jesus Mata (Patricia), Carlos Mata (Veronica), Veronica Mata, and the late Javier Mata (Siria). Manuel is survived by many nieces, nephews, loved ones and dear friends.
Manuel was the proud owner of Manuel Mata Sheetrock. Known for his strong work ethic and hands-on approach, Manuel took great pride in every project he touched. Through Manuel Mata Sheetrock, he helped shape homes and businesses, leaving behind a lasting mark in more ways than one.
When he wasn’t on the job, Manuel could be found tending to his beloved farm, where he raised cattle and found peace in the rhythm of country life. His connection to the land ran deep, and his care for his animals was a reflection of the respect he had for nature.
In his younger years, Manuel had a passion for racehorses. He dedicated countless hours to training and caring for them, always taking pride in their strength and spirit—a reflection of his own. A hardworking man with a deep love for the land and a fierce commitment to his craft, he built a legacy not only through his business but in the hearts of those who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd, Marrero, LA 70072. A Funeral Mass will begin at 1:00 PM and interment to immediately follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery, 531 Ave A, Westwego, LA 70094.
