Luz Celenia Bermudez Gradiz

Luz Celenia Bermudez Gradiz entered into eternal rest on June 26, 2022 at the age of 73. Her story began in Bayamon, Puerto Rico but her soul was naturally New Orleans. After moving to New Orleans at the age of seven, her family set roots in the Irish Channel where she lived until marrying Jose Augusto Gradiz, and settled on the Westbank. She worked as a data processor for Western Electric, but her most notable job was as a caregiver and Matriarch of her family.
Lucy always enjoyed a great bargain, the occasional visit to OTB, religiously watching the Saints, but mostly spending time with her sisters. Their relationship was indescribably close.
Known for her arroz con pollo, gumbo, and great sense of humor, and prolific story telling. Lucy’s story lives on through her beloved husband of 50 years, Jose A. Gradiz and their children Marisol Tierney (husband Keith), Jose Louis Gradiz (wife Leigh), and Lisa Maria Gradiz. Loving grandmother of Luna, Julian, Grace, Elijah. Cherished sister of Rosa Figueroa (late husband Roman), Rafael Bermudez (wife Raleigh), Marinella Alvarenga (husband Marco), and the late Carmen Cardova. She will be truly missed by Roman Figueroa, Jr., Rosita Gonzalez, Maria Figueroa, Tammy Figueroa, Israel Santos, Jessica Cordova, Isaias Santos, the late Hernan Cordova, and a host of family and friends.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA on Saturday, July 2, 2022 from 12 PM, with a Funeral Service in the Chapel to follow at 3 PM.
