Luther W. "Luke" Adams Jr.

Luther W. "Luke" Adams Jr. passed away on August 26, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on May 21, 1937, he lived a long life marked by devotion to his family and many years of dedicated work.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Carol P. Adams. He also leaves behind his daughters, Pattie Schieffler (Carol) and Connie A. Arcement (Craig Sr.); his grandchildren, Craig J. Arcement Jr.(Brandi) and Andia A. Leyva (Michael); and his great-grandchildren, Madison and Luke Arcement, and Kami and Steven Leyva. He is also survived by his nephews, L.J. Fernandez Jr. (Sara) and Terry Fernandez (Patty) and sister in-law Elaine P. Bourgeois (late Sidney) as well as a host of other relatives. He will be remembered with love by all who were blessed to be part of his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Adams Sr.; his mother, Octavia Adams; his sister, Martha Fernandez and her late husband, Louis Fernandez; and his granddaughter, Erica Kay Schieffler.

Luke was a Chevron employee for over 30 years. His steady commitment and strong work ethic were an important part of his life and reflected the dependable man his family knew and loved.

The family extends special thanks to the employees of Fresenius Kidney Care and to his home-health caregiver, Dolores Jambon of St. Michael Home Health, for their wonderful care over the past five years, and Glenda Parria for her extraordinary ministry of holy communion. Their kindness and support meant a great deal to Luke and his loved ones.

Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church-Lafitte, 2653 Jean Lafitte Blvd, in Lafitte, Louisiana. A Mass will follow at 12:00 p.m. Interment will take place afterward at St. Pius X Mausoleum, 8151 Barataria Blvd, Marrero, Louisiana.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and all who knew him.
