Luke Johnnie Gegenheimer, age 36, went to be with the Lord on Monday,
March 30, 2026. Beloved father of Lexi Marie Gegenheimer. Son of Lauren Hargis and Carl Gegenheimer Sr. Brother of Carl Jr (Tiffanie) and Ben Sr. Uncle of Ben Jr, Austin, Wil, Peyton, Max, and Makenzie. Grandson of the late Laura and Roland Gegenheimer and Bernice and Anthony Hargis Sr. Nephew of Gary Sr (Aline), the late Tim Sr (Sally), Randy (Karen), Kurt (Leverda), Lisa Foret (Kerry), Denise, Boo (Penny), Gee (the late Sandra), Darnell Tierney (the late John), Angelika Lichtkoppler and Jennifer; preceded in death by Johnnie Sr and Gilda. Godchild of Jessica Tierney Cheffer and Johnnie Gegenheimer Jr. Luke is also survived by a host of Gegenheimer, Helmstetter, Hargis and Doucet cousins and many caring family and friends. Luke was a graduate of Edna Karr High School. He was a native of Algiers, but recently resided in Belle Chasse, where he worked at Salvo’s Seafood. During his childhood, Luke enjoyed dancing at his mother’s dancing school, …a time to dance. He then traded his taps for cleats, when he started playing baseball and football at NORD. As a teen, Luke ventured into hunting and fishing. Throughout his life, he was fascinated with history and was interested in watching documentaries. Luke carried a deep love for his daughter and treasured the moments he spent with her. She was his pride and joy. His eyes lit up most, when he talked about his Lexi Marie. Luke was passionate about family, a deep thinker about life and never too shy to talk with anyone. His smile was beautiful and infectious. Above all of the love he was given and gave in return, it was his love for Jesus, his Lord and Savior, that surpassed it all. Luke’s most fervent prayer was from Revelation 22:20 NKJV, “He who testifies to these things says, ‘Surely I am coming quickly.’ Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!” Now in the presence of his Creator, Luke has the joy of the Lord! “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away” Revelation 21:4 KJV Until we meet again on that Glorious Day, we’ll forever cherish memories of love, joy and celebration. A Memorial Service will be held privately at a later date.
